Daniel's Welding Ltd. was established in 1977 by Ian Daniel to service the demand in the oil, gas and forestry industries in the rural area of Edson, Alberta. The demand for this company grew so quickly that in 1984 a new 7,200 square foot facility was constructed on the same site as the 2,400 square foot building they were operating out of. In 1988, Ian Daniel retired leaving his two sons, Doug and Murray to operate the family business. In 1994, Doug decided to embark on a new business venture, so Murray took over sole ownership of DWL and expanded the company into the mining industry. Daniel's Welding acquired a new property in 1997 with a 10,000 square foot hanger known as the "heliport" which was used for rebuilding mining equipment. This proved to be a good move as there was no other business in the area that could rebuild and repair large mining equipment in a controlled environment. Late in 2000, DWL started the construction of a new 17,000 square foot fabrication and machine shop next to the heliport. Construction of the new building ceased in early February 2001 when Murray was killed in an automobile accident. For a period of time, the future of Daniel's Welding was uncertain. Stability and direction of the company was regained when Murray's two children, Travis and Cherilyn, took over ownership. Then with the help of Daniel's long term and dedicated management and employees, it became business as usual. The construction of the new facility (started in 2000) was completed and they relocated to their present location in 2005. In March 2010, Travis became sole owner of DWL and today, it is managed byTravis and Ted Zielke. The company now consists of a highly trained team of men and women and is operating stronger than ever before. For over 38 years Daniel's Welding Ltd. has been on the forefront of the welding industry and has succeeded in being the best at what they do. They pride themselves in providing top quality workmanship and service, where no job is too big or too small.
